My Journey with Art

My name is Yolandi

Art has always been a quiet, steady presence in my life.

Over time, I’ve come to see creativity not as something to perfect, but as a gentle way to support wellbeing — offering space to slow down, be present, and express without the need for words.

With a background as a registered nurse, over 30 years of experience in health, and 12 years working in disability and NDIS, alongside my ongoing studies in social work, I have developed a deep understanding of the importance of creating safe, supportive, and person-centred environments. My work has always centred around helping people feel calm, regulated, and connected.

Through this lens, art has become more than a creative outlet — it has become a meaningful way to support relaxation, emotional balance, and self-connection.

I am particularly drawn to watercolour for its softness and unpredictability. The way colour flows and blends naturally encourage letting go of control and simply being in the moment. There is no right or wrong — just a gentle process of exploration.

What I offer is not about teaching art in a traditional sense. It is about holding a calm, nurturing space where creativity becomes a tool for slowing down, reconnecting with yourself, and experiencing a sense of ease.
